Stray Field Imaging (STRAFI) Probe
833 MHz, 31 mm magnet

Purpose

Enormous field gradients outside of magnet's sweet spot are rarely utilized. This stray field imaging (STRAFI) probe combines high field of 19.6 Tesla (830 MHz) magnet with large gradients in its fringe field to obtain high resolution 1D images of layered structures. Slice selection is achieved by RF coil that moves sample through observation plane.

Features

  • Stepper-motor driven RF coil
  • Sample: 10 mm in diameter
  • Maximum static gradient: 75 T/m
  • Operating frequency ~520 MHz (12.2 T magnet plane)
  • Observe nuclei: 1H, 7Li, and 31P.
  • Achievable layer resolution ~20 micron
